My kids were always bringing home orphaned animals to me. In fact after a while we got so good at taking care of  orphaned animals that people would call us when they had one. We raised 4 orphaned kittens one time when the mom was killed by a car. That's when I really learned to appreciate our pet supply store. They sold us the milk replacer and the little bottles plus the staff at the pet supply store told us how much to feed them and how often. We figured out ourselves that you have to mimic the mother cat and bath the kittens with a damp cloth before and after they are fed. One of my kids brought home a tiny injured jackrabbit baby. The little thing had a cut on it's head and was too small to eat. We went back to our pet supply store to get the needed supplies. I had done my research before I got there so I knew we needed kitten milk replacer again. I still had the little bottles but the baby rabbit wouldn't drink from them so I bought a syringe from the pet supply store. It worked like a charm. We tried not to have too much contact with this little wild rabbit because we knew we would have to let it go at some point and we did. It grew fast and pretty soon was jumping straight up and down in its cage. We finally took it to an out of the way pasture and let it go. What a fun experience! I appreciate the staff at our pet supply store and how much help they are.
