Just as the costs of human health insurance keep rising, the costs of pet health insurance keep going up, too. Which leads me to ask? Do you or anyone for that matter, really need pet health insurance? Well, with the costs of medical care going up, up, up, the short answer would be yes. According to an article posted last month on CNN.com by writer Joan Shim, ""The medical treatments and technologies being used for humans are now being used for pets," says Laura Bennett, chief executive officer and co-founder of Embrace Pet Insurance. Chemotherapy, heart surgery and MRIs are becoming more common in the pet world. But advanced treatments and surgeries can cost thousands of dollars. Some pet owners facing an animal's serious illness or injury will choose to euthanize -- put the animal down -- for financial reasons. Or they will decide on a less expensive treatment for an injured animal." But, if you have pet health insurance, you can afford to get those expensive treatments for your beloved animal friend and not have to face the heartbreak of an early euthanization just because you can't afford the care he or she needs. With the increasing use of expensive, high-tech treatments on pets, getting pet health insurance only makes sense.
